The Fighting Burrito a well know Burrito place known to ISU students has now opened a location in Downtown Des Moines in the Western Gateway.
They offer burritos, tacos, quesadilla, salads, and nachos. My daughter and I visited on Saturday and arrived in the early afternoon around 1:30pm. We were greeted by a couple nice guys willing to explain how to order and even had some suggestions for us. They have lots of options to choose from. See below.
After much thought- we went with the custom burrito and a fountain drink. Understand that my daughter would prefer to eat chicken strips and fries. This being her first burrito I was not sure what to expect. So we sat at a window seat and she commented about how cool the restaurant was.
She unraveled her burrito from the tinfoil wrap and took a huge bite. Her eyes got real big and I looked at her with concern. She chewed slowly, and spoke with a full mouth- I took to big of a bite. She chewed a bit more and I asked her if it was good. She shook her head as to say no. Then she smiled and said it is fantastic. She was right- it was pretty good. I will have to say that it tasted very similar to Bandit Burrito in Johnston- which I love.
If you work on the West side of downtown in the Western Gateway you have a new option that is delicious and fresh. Fighting Burrito is located on 13th St. just south of Locust in the same building as Jimmy John's and Smokey D's. You can also order online at www.fightingburrito.com for delivery and pickup.
