Sam my son and I visited Papa Chubby's in Ankeny for Ribs. I ordered a full slab of ribs with Fries and Cheesey Potatoes.  I want to say it was priced at $16.99. We both loved the ribs- they were sticky good. They must smother the ribs in brown sugar and spicies. My son said they are the best ribs yet!  The only disappointment was that kids menu/section did not have any barbecue on it so I incurred a split plate charge of $4.30 when we split the meal. Which was a bit odd.

My son and I had corn bread and ribs during the Superbowl.  Nothing better than that....not even the commercials.

Kids and I stopped by Cactus Bob's in Johnston for dinner tonight. This is Sam's favorite place to get a bite. For $5 the Rib platter includes 4 ribs and a pile of fries.

My friend Jack and I stopped by Woody's Smoke Shack for good barbecue. Jack had not been to Woodys before and wanted him to try the ribs. I went with the choice of 3 meats and 3 sides. This included ribs, chicken, and brisket. My sides included a double side of cheesy potatoes and beans. Good stuff.

We met our friends tonight for a get together at Bandanas Barbecue in Ankeny.  Our party consisted of 8 kids and 9 adults.  We did call ahead and they had a table ready for us.  Our waitress did a pretty good job keeping our drinks full considering she was solo.  Everybody was pleased with the taste and variety of items on the menu.   I ordered the slab of ribs which came with a large bowl of coleslaw and pile of fries.  There was enough food for 2 people or 1 big guy like me.  The ribs were very tender and tasted great.  They are dry rubbed leaving the option to try 1 of their 5 sauces.
